2019 Jeep Cherokee vs 2019 Honda CR-V near Gastonia, NC

The search for an SUV doesn't have to be a stressful one, even with the wide variety of options out there. We are here to make the journey as easy as it can possibly be by choosing two of the top contenders and comparing them for you. The vehicles we'll be looking at include the 2019 Jeep Cherokee and the 2019 Honda CR-V. The 2019 Cherokee has a few new changes, including an upgraded infotainment system, a new look to the exterior, and a new engine option! The 2019 CR-V doesn't have any new major changes, meaning it is still hanging on to its last redesign, although it still does bost a roomy interior. At first glance, these SUVs have many things in common, and they are both worth considering. But if you want to find out which one you should be driving home, keep reading down below.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

The Cherokee doesn't skimp when it comes to engine options. First up is the 2.4-liter inline-4, which outputs 171 pound-feet of torque and 180 horsepower. Another option is a 3.2-liter V6, which can create 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. The last option is the all-new turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which generates 295 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain, although all-wheel drive is available with all of the engine options. You'll also be getting a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, regardless of the engine or model.

2019 Honda CR-V Power & Handling

The 2019 CR-V only comes with two engine options. The first engine is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which produces around 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The second engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder, which generates 179 pound-feet of torque and 190 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard with both engines, and all-wheel drive is also available. You'll also be getting a standard CVT automatic, which features Sport mode. Sport mode gives added responsiveness for some extra driving fun. While the engines are not the worst in terms of power, the Cherokee's additional engines, that include V6 options, make the Cherokee blow away the CR-V.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

If you're interested in an SUV that offers you plenty of trim options, then the Cherokee will fulfill your needs. The 2019 model comes with five trims. The base trim Latitude features 60/40-split folding rear seatback, a rearview camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, automatic xenon headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, height-adjustable front seats, a USB port, heated side mirrors, and a 6-speaker audio system. Another model, Limited, adds blind-spot monitoring, an upgraded driver information display, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, 18-inch wheels, rear cross-traffic alert, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. The most luxurious model is Overland, which offers upgraded leather upholstery, cornering lights, a navigation system, sound-deadening windshield, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, ventilated front seats, and wood steering-wheel inserts.

2019 Honda CR-V Features & Design

Like the engine lineup, the CR-V is lagging behind on options when it comes to trims. The 2019 model comes with four trims, and no other options. The standard model LX comes with a height-adjustable driver seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, two USB ports, cruise control, LED running lights, a 5-inch color display, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a 4-speaker audio system, and a height-adjustable driver seat. Another trim, the EX, features an upgraded driver information display, heated mirrors, heated front seats, an upgraded rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear privacy glass, keyless entry and start, a sunroof, a power-adjustable driver's seat, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a retractable cargo cover. The highest model, Touring, adds ambient interior lighting, LED headlights, a subwoofer, dual chrome exhaust tips, a navigation system, hands-free power liftgate, automatic wipers, and roof rails.

Conclusions

The winner here is clear--the 2019 Jeep Cherokee completely overwhelms the Honda CR-V. Not only does the Cherokee feature three engine options, but it also offers 5 trim levels!
