2020 Jeep Compass vs Ford Escape

When the time comes to shop around for a new SUV, the choices out there can make the final decision far more difficult than you want it to be. Today, we here at Marburger CDJR want to make the choice easier than ever, which is why we are looking at two of the top SUVs on the market today. First up is the 2020 Jeep Compass, which adds in an Alpine audio option for a few of the available trim levels, an additional package on the base trim, and a new paint color, Velvet Red Pearl. The other vehicle we are putting our energy into looking at is the 2020 Ford Escape, which gives you Co-Pilot360 standard, second-row sliding seats, and a reduction in weight. To find out which SUV comes out on top in the end, continue reading down below.

2020 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

One of the best features of the 2020 Jeep Compass is that you only have one engine to worry about, and that engine is reliable. Nothing is more important than knowing that your vehicle will last a long time, and the 2.4-liter inline-4 engine found in the Jeep Compass ensures that. This engine has the ability to crank out around 180 horsepower, and even up to 175 pound-feet of torque. Another major benefit here are the multiple configurations, include a six-speed manual transmission, a six-speed automatic transmission, and on four-wheel drive models, a nine-speed automatic. There is something for everyone, no matter what uses you intend with the 2020 Compass.

2020 Ford Escape Power & Handling

Two different engines come with the 2020 Ford Escape. The base engine here is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-4, which creates 190 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower. The other available engine is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-4, which produces 280 pound-feet of torque and 250 horsepower. Both engines work with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. While these aren't the worst options, we're much more confident driving around in the Jeep Compass, especially with the ability to get four-wheel drive and one of three different transmissions. Ford does its best, but it isn't enough.

2020 Jeep Compass Features & Design

Jeep has always been known for capability, but also the unique styling that their vehicles give off. The Compass, in particular, is a stylish SUV that gives you luxury and flexibility. The base trim, called Sport, comes standard with heated side mirrors, a 7-inch touchscreen, a Uconnect 4 system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and 16-inch wheels. Another option to consider is the off-road-oriented trim, Trailhawk. This trim includes all-terrain tires, skid plates, an off-road suspension, Active Drive Low, and Selec-Terrain. A more luxurious model is Latitude, which includes 17-inch wheels, an upgraded interior, push-button start, and cornering front fog lights.

2020 Ford Escape Features & Design

Ford has a fair few trim levels available, with the base one being S. This trim includes a 4.5-inch display monitor, selectable driving modes, second-row sliding seats, and Ford Co-Pilot360 safety features. Other features, found with the SE trim, include keyless entry, evasive-steering assist, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and heated front seats. A higher trim, called SEL, adds a heated leather steering wheel, remote start, a hands-free power tailgate, and memory front seats.

As you can easily tell, the 2020 Jeep Compass completely smashes the competition. This SUV manages to balance on-the-road and off-road excellence, enabling you to be in charge of your next adventure. Whether you need a luxurious SUV for your drive to work, or a fun weekender, the Jeep Compass is there for you. Stop by our dealership today to get behind the wheel of a model today!
