Pitting two of the most popular models on the market against each other, comparing all that they have to offer, our team is going to help you determine which one works for you. On the left hand side we have the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and on the right hand side, the 2021 Ford Edge. Keep reading to see how they stack up!

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

In the 2021 model year, the Grand Cherokee trim lineup is powered by four different engines. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 that produces up to 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be equipped with either RWD or 4WD. The second engine, offered for trims like the Trailhawk, Overland and Summit, is a 5.7L V8 that delivers up to 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The SRT trim level houses a 6.4L V8 that produces 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The fourth and final engine is a 6.2L supercharged V8 that creates up to 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The V8 engines come with standard 4WD and all engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Towing big loads? The Grand Cherokee can handle up to 7,400 pounds.

2021 Ford Edge Power & Handling

There are only two engines powering the Ford Edge lineup in the 2021 model year. The more standard engine is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that delivers 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be configured with FWD or AWD. The second engine, which only powers the ST trim level, is a 2.7L twin-turbocharged V6 that generates 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with standard AWD and both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Towing isn't the best with the Edge, maxing out at 3,500 pounds.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

The Grand Cherokee is offered in seven trim levels. The standard features consist of a 7-inch touchscreen with the latest Uconnect infotainment system, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated side mirrors, smartphone integration, a backup camera, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The mid-level trim levels add features like navigation, a power tailgate, heated front seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, remote engine start, leather upholstery, a sunroof, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, larger wheels, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The Trailhawk trim gets the Quadra-lift air suspension, the Selec-Terrain dial with an additional Rock mode, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. For more power and performance, opt for the available SRT and Trackhawk trims that are outfitted with active damping, Launch Control, and more!

2021 Ford Edge Features & Design

The Ford Edge is offered in five trim levels. The base trim is outfitted with LED headlights, a 12-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, smartphone integration, and 18-inch wheels. The upper trim levels gain simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, a hands-free liftgate, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, parking sensors, and power-adjustable driver and front passenger seat. The ST trim comes outfitted with front sport seats, a sport-tuned suspension, front sport seats, and body-colored exterior trim.

Conclusion:

It is pretty clear to see that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the clear winner here! The Ford Edge puts up a decent fight but the lack of engine options and power, as well as the lack of trim level options that cater to everyone in the market for a new SUV does not impress us. Come on down to Marburger CDJR and check out the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee in person today!
