2021 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

There are four engines making up the Ram 1500's lineup. The base engine is a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It is outfitted with mild-hybrid eTorque technology for enhanced fuel economy and additional torque when the situation calls for it. Drivers can also opt for the available 5.7-liter V8 that produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque and can be outfitted with or without the eTorque technology. The third engine is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that generates 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. The fourth and final engine is exclusive to the TRX trim. This 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces up to 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. All are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and drivers can choose from RWD and 4WD.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

There are also four engines offered for the Silverado. The base engine is a 4.3-liter V6 that delivers 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The next engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that creates 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can also choose the available 5.3-liter V8 engine that generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The last engine is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel 6-cylinder that kicks out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque that also comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. RWD and 4WD configurations are available.

2021 Ram 1500 Features & Design

In total, drivers have seven Ram 1500 trim levels to choose from. The base Tradesman trim level is outfitted with features like a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, a 5-inch touchscreen, 18-inch steel wheels, a 6-speaker sound system, air conditioning, and trailer sway damping. The upper trims add larger touchscreen options, fog lights, larger wheels, smartphone integration, leather upholstery, power mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, side steps, front and rear parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, a four-corner air suspension, and power-deployable running boards. The Rebel trim takes the Ram 1500 off-roading with features more aggressive styling, an electronic locking rear axle, upgraded shocks, larger all-terrain tires, and four underbody skid plates. The all-new TRX trim level takes it a step further with features like upgraded brakes, Bilstein adaptive dampers, an additional skid plate, Launch Control, a Dana 60 solid rear axle, and a 2-inch suspension lift.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

There are eight Silverado trim levels to pick from in the 2021 model year. Standard features include smartphone integration, air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system, a locking tailgate, and rubber floor covering. The upper trim levels build on that with features like cloth upholstery, heated mirrors, remote engine start, all-terrain tires, chrome exterior trim, LED fog lights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a power-sliding rear window, front and rear parking sensors, and more.

Conclusion:

It is clear to see after looking at what both of these full-size pickup trucks have to offer, that the 2021 Ram 1500 is the truck to drive home! The Chevrolet Silverado put up a good fight but its eight trim levels spread the features thin and it just doesn't have the power under the hood as the Ram 1500 does.
