PHEV stands for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle and seamlessly integrates the benefits of both gas and electric-powered cars. Powering the Grand Cherokee 4xe lineup begins with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine underneath the hood. This engine is equipped with an electric motor, replacing the traditional alternator for enhanced regenerative braking. Meanwhile, an additional electric motor is found within the transmission, replacing the torque converter in order to provide the car with instantaneous torque.
