While the entire Wrangler lineup has earned Jeep's coveted Trail Rated 4x4 badge, none are as off-road capable as the Wrangler Rubicon. The Rubicon trim level was introduced to the lineup in 2003, earning its name from the Rubicon Trail, hailed as one of America's most challenging off-road trails. After more than two decades of being a top choice for off-road enthusiasts, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has expanded into three different variants, each with its own unique set of features enhancing performance, capability, and even comfort. Standard Features for the 2024 Wrangler Rubicon

The 2024 model year brings about the best Rubicon trim level yet, bringing with it the unmatched capability we've come to expect, along with new features like the all-new 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen. At the heart of the Rubicon's capability is the Rock-Trac part-time 4x4 system, providing a 4:1 gear ratio when the transfer case is in 4-Low mode. This means that for every four turns of the transmission output shaft, the wheels will turn once, providing greater torque at lower speeds. The traditional Rubicon is equipped with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires for optimal performance across various terrain. Meanwhile, a Dana 44 full-float heavy-duty rear axle optimizes the axle's load capacity while taking on rugged terrain. Both axles are equipped with Tru-Lok differentials, allowing the driver to lock all four wheels or just the rear wheels at the push of a button. By locking the axles, the wheels all turn at the same speed, keeping up the vehicle's momentum while climbing steep terrain. Wheel articulation is the ability the wheels have to rise and drop while the vehicle crawls over uneven terrain. To improve the Rubicon's wheel articulation, the front sway bar comes with electronic sway bar disconnect. At the push of a button, this gives you the ability to unlink the front stabilizer bar, allowing the front wheels to rise further while driving up a rock and drop back down, coming down the other side to keep the wheel connected to the surface, improving control and traction. Finally, the Wrangler Rubicon lineup comes standard with Selec-Speed. This feature is essentially cruise control for off-roading speeds, allowing you to set a speed between 0.6 and 5 MPH, and the vehicle will maintain it while you focus on steering.

What is the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X?

The 2024 model year introduces the all-new Rubicon X trim, which takes everything we know and love about the traditional Rubicon and turns it up to eleven! The Rubicon X takes Rock-Trac 4x4 and converts the Rubicon's part-time transfer case into a full-time one, providing four-wheel drive traction at all times, adding 4-Auto to the transfer case knob with 2WD, 4-High, 4-Low, and Neutral. Off-roading enhancements begin with the 35-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires, a winch-capable high-strength steel front bumper, a factory-installed 1.5-inch lift kit, a reinforced rear swing gate, beadlock-capable alloy wheels, and a Mopar spare tire relocator kit. Finally, the Rubicon X features a standard forward-facing off-road trail camera for enhanced trail visibility. The Rubicon X is also eligible for a factory-installed Warn winch with an 8,000-pound capacity. Beyond the off-road capability-enhancing features, the Rubicon X also offers enhanced comfort, with 12-way power-adjustable front seats, Nappa leather-trimmed seats, an Alpine premium audio system for a rich sound experience, and increased style with a body-color hard top.

Get a HEMI Roar from the Wrangler Rubicon 392

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, introduced in the 2022 model year, is the fastest most powerful Rubicon ever, featuring a 392-cubic inch 6.4L HEMI V8 engine, delivering an exhilarating 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Rubicon 392 adds a large hood scoop that leads to three distinct channels designed to divert water away from the air intake so the engine only breathes clean air. The Wrangler Rubicon 392 also features the 35-inch BFGoodrich tires used by the Rubicon X, along with a two-inch factory lift kit, towering over the Wrangler lineup with 11.1 inches of ground clearance. It also adds gas-charged 2.5-inch monotube shock absorbers from FOX. The HEMI V8 is known for its distinctive sound. The Rubicon 392 harnesses that sound with a dual-mode active exhaust system. While Normal mode sends the exhaust through the entire exhaust system to minimize noise, performance mode bypasses the resonator, letting out that instantly recognizable HEMI roar. Essentially, the Rubicon 392 offers the capability and comfort of the Rubicon X with a HEMI V8, a high-flow hood scoop, and a one-of-a-kind growl.
