As we mentioned above, the all-new Ram 1500 introduces a new engine named Hurricane. The all-new Hurricane engine comes in two variants: standard output and high output. The all-new high-performance Ram 1500 RHO comes standard with the high-output variant. The Hurricane engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine. In order to not disappoint, Ram knew they had to give the RHO V8-like power while keeping with their pursuit of greater fuel efficiency. This was achieved by using a smaller, six-cylinder engine to use less fuel while adding two low-inertia twin-scroll turbochargers for forced air induction. The result of the twin-turbocharged inline-six engine is a heart-pounding 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. The RHO's powertrain is 150 pounds lighter than the one found in the previous generation's high-performance model. This allows the RHO to match the former performance model's top speed of 118 MPH. Meanwhile, the RHO only adds one-tenth of a second to the previous model 4.5-second 0-60 time, while it covers a quarter mile in just 13.1 seconds. The RHO, however, is designed for off-road chops, featuring standard 4x4 with a BorgWarner 48-13 transfer case. Power is delivered to the wheels with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with sequential gear control in the form of steering wheel paddle shifters.

While the Ram 1500 certainly provides drivers with an exciting on-road driving experience, it offers a wide range of advanced features that make it an off-roading monster. In addition to the RHO's enhanced transfer case, it also features a Dana 60 full-float rear axle with an electronic locking rear differential. With the rear differential locked, the rear wheels spin at the same speed to maximize momentum and traction while traversing tough terrain. Meanwhile, the RHO also features an impressive nine drive modes, including Auto, Custom, Tow, Mud/Sand, Rock, Sport, Snow, Baja, and Valet. These modes make alterations to the suspension stiffness, steering feel, power output, traction control, torque split, transmission shift points, and other vehicle systems to maximize performance and traction on any given terrain. Meanwhile, Valet mode defaults all settings. The most advanced system of the Ram 1500 RHO, however, are the exclusive gas-charged Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shock absorbers. Accompanied by 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires and enhanced breakover, approach and departure angles, the shocks help provide the RHO with a towering 11.8 inches of ground clearance. Meanwhile, the shocks offer immense suspension travel with 13 inches in the front and 14 inches in the rear, allowing the truck to crawl over rugged terrain without losing contact with the trail. To prevent bottoming out with all that suspension travel, the shocks use a secondary piston that engages as the shocks approach full compression.

The Ram 1500 RHO has a design all of its own, making itself instantly recognizable among the rest of the Core/Sport/Electric lineups. The most notable design element is the high and wide stance. The height comes from the Bilstein shocks, massive tires, and increased ground clearance. Meanwhile, the width comes from an additional six inches added to the track and fender flares that add a total of eight inches to the overall width of the truck to cover the massive all-terrain tires. Looking at the RHO from the front, you'll find a 'RAM' script with flow-through lettering, bi-functional LED projector headlights, a large hood scoop marked by three LED amber lights, two bumper-integrated tow hooks, and LED fog lights. Down the sides, you'll find the widebody fender flares stretched over 18-inch alloy wheels, LED turn signals integrated into the side mirror housings, and air vents on the front fenders. Coming to the rear, you'll find LED taillights, dual five-inch black exhaust tips, a large 'RAM' script, and more. Getting behind the wheel, you'll find the high-performance design to be accompanied by modern amenities, comfort, and convenience. The entire cabin features Natura Plus leather-trimmed seating with suede inserts. The cabin also features heated, ventilated, and 12-way power-adjustable front seats with performance bolsters. Meanwhile, the RHO's cabin also features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12.3-inch fully digital gauge cluster, a 12-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen, class-leading rear legroom of 45.2 inches, and a center-console mounted shift knob.
