Discover Place Nature is a part of the Discover Place Museums family. There are interactive activities for kids of all ages. It is also home to the Butterfly Pavilion where curious butterfly lovers can see them in all the stages of their life cycle.


Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden: For garden lovers, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is sure to delight. With over 350 acres covered with themed gardens, fountains and an orchid conservatory, you could spend a full day and come back for more. Two areas to visit include the seasonal Butterfly Bungalow that is home to caterpillars, chrysalides and butterflies. And then check out the Pollinator Putting which is a mini 18 course golf course with pollinator themes.


Carolina Raptor Center: Bird lovers head over to the Carolina Raptor Center. There are over 90 birds that call the center home. And for visitors 12 years and older, they can get up close and personal through center keeper and veterinarian programming. The center is the largest raptor medical center in the country.


US National Whitewater Center: For outdoor adventure seekers, the US National Whitewater Center rounds out an awesome nature focused vacation. The center is the home of the largest man-made whitewater river in the world. Visitors can climb, mountain bike, kayak, zipline, raft and more.
